Ms. Ortiz is graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in December 2013. While attending school, Ms. Ortiz worked primarily in commercial litigation firms and bankruptcy firms. Specifically, Ms. Ortiz assisted on contract disputes, Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcies, fraudulent transfer and preference litigation. Additionally, Ms. Ortiz completed the law school clinical program in which she took charge of several cases including bankruptcy cases, tax cases and consumer rights cases.
Ms. Ortiz actively participated in several law school organizations. She was the treasurer of the Student Bar Association and the Vice President of the Tax Law Club. As treasurer of the Student Bar Association, Ms. Ortiz helped implement a mentorship program between the University of New Mexico School of Law and the Young Lawyer’s Division of the New Mexico State Bar.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Ortiz received her Bachelors of Art in English with a concentration in professional writing. Ms. Ortiz interned at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court in the Communications, Information and Public Outreach Department. Ms. Ortiz assisted the court in implementing a DWI awareness program in high schools, drafted biographies for the judges, drafted and designed the annual report for the court, and assisted in a volunteer attorney program, Law La Palooza.
